Bakermedia is very experienced in producing a wide range of training videos using various techniques ranging from using traditional voiceover and illustrative shots and videos including comedy sketches, to multiple reality scenarios and drama sequences. Bakermedia is staffed by former BBC and ITV producers and directors and everything we produce is to full broadcast editorial, compliance and technical standard, at cost-effective prices.
Video in training has many applications and can be used stand-alone or combined with interactive multimedia elements to record and score a learners progress. Simple and complex messages can be conveyed effectively and more easily than instructions on a page. The use of video also enables staff to learn at their own pace and refresh when necessary without necessarily having to organise a course or even leave their desk.
As an induction medium, video scores well. A consistent message can be given to all new employers with inspirational welcome messages and critical information and an overview of the organisation which might include tours and simulations.
Video can also be a great way to capture an event for future training use such as conferences and seminars.
Bakermedia can work with you to capture the information you need to present and put it across in an engaging way that forms a suitable training scheme for your organisation, whether its delivered online, through an intranet or via interactive DVD. INTERACTIVITY
We would suggest that the interactivity of DVD is fully utilised in your project to ensure that the trainee is engaged more fully throughout the learning experience, it helps to reinforce learning, and continually tests their understanding of the material. We have used these features for an interactive quiz running throughout the double DVD set we have produced for B&Q’s bathroom staff, an interactive DVD for Stockport Council and for a project we are about to start for Sheffield Hallam University about personal health where the entire project is interactive as the viewer makes choices that lead them into content that is fully tailored to their needs and lifestyles.
DRAMA AND/OR COMEDY SEQUENCES
Another excellent way to reinforce the learning process is to include dramatic and/or comedic sequences. You may wish to consider using dramatic sequences to illustrate, for example, how not to do things and the correct way, using the “Sliding Doors” or “Groundhog Day” technique of looking at “what would happen if…” We have in the quote assumed the use of a studio and a set to represent a community optometrist and actors to play out various scenes.
The use of a stylised studio set to illustrate right and wrong ways of dealing with patients will contrast effectively with the documentary style of the rest of the video footage.
“EXPERT” INTERVIEWS
We recommend including footage of interviews with relevant experts who can if necessary be scripted to read off our Autocue system.
ANIMATIONS
Bakermedia has full facilities to include animations, 3D renderings and graphics which could for example be used to show clearly the stages of AMD, how the “sufferer” sees the world with this condition, and how treatments can assist. Voice-over would be added in post-production.
